Foreigner claims Japanese women are unfaithful
A man in Australia sparked controversy by claiming all the Japanese women he dated cheated on their partners.
Idealized expectations many foreigners have about Asian culture often clash violently with street reality. A foreign man living in Australia became the center of massive fun and intense debate on social media after posting a thread publicly advising never to date Japanese women, claiming to base this on his own experience after being involved with over forty women from different regions of Japan in a two-year period.
According to his account, every single woman he dated cheated on their partners back home. The man argued that there’s a false perception in the West where Japanese women are portrayed as pure, traditional, and innocent, when in reality—according to his perspective—many behave much more promiscuously than they admit, maintaining secret relationships while mocking their boyfriends on the other side of the world for having no idea what they’re doing. To add fuel to the fire, he clarified that he wasn’t the one being cheated on, but rather the accomplice with whom these tourists committed infidelity while abroad.

As expected, such generalization completely divided the community online. Some users backed his words, claiming similar experiences dating tourists or temporary residents. However, most comments tore apart his theory, pointing out that the main issue wasn’t an entire country, but the specific dating apps he used and the circles he frequented, always attracting the same type of person. Several Japanese women also spoke out, calling his comments unfair and offensive, reminding everyone that infidelity knows no passport or nationality.
Given that individual dating experiences rarely reflect an entire population’s behavior, do you think these viral testimonials only seek to generate hate and perpetuate xenophobic stereotypes online?
