The incident occurred because users created shareable links using Claude’s built-in chat-sharing feature. When posted on traceable websites, search engines indexed the pages like any other public content. The developer clarified that chat directories aren’t shared and private, unshared conversations remained protected. Google quickly acted, deindexing all links by July 28. This had happened on a smaller scale in 2025, reminding the community to be cautious when sharing virtual conversations online.
