The renowned Japanese game developer Level-5, celebrated for its Inazuma Eleven and Yo-kai Watch franchises, issued a formal statement on May 13 addressing the issue of game piracy.
The company disclosed that it has recently identified cases of unauthorized replication and sharing of its titles within specific online forums. Level-5 warned it will pursue legal measures against any actions that infringe on its copyrights. This includes unauthorized copying, altering, editing, distributing, or selling of Level-5βs game software without proper authorization.
Although the company did not provide additional specifics about the copyright violations, there is speculation that the announcement might be connected to a fan project that recently gained attention on X, captivating both international and domestic fans. Initially announced through a now-inactive account on May 10, the project was envisioned as a complete, unofficial Spanish remake of Yo-Kai Watch 2, compatible with Switch, mobile, PC, and VR platforms, and built entirely in Unity. However, the announcement faced significant backlash from the Japanese fanbase due to potential legal issues. Given Level-5βs recent statement and the subsequent removal of the original posterβs account, it appears improbable that the remake project will proceed.
