Online discussions often cross lines, but when they turn into real-life harassment, the consequences are severe. Publisher Kodansha confirmed it has handed over relevant information to police and is pursuing legal action after what was claimed to be Nene Azuki’s private address—creator of the manga Mii-chan to Yamada-san—began circulating online alongside posts claiming visits to the location.

Kodansha stressed their duty to protect the safety and physical integrity of their authors and collaborators. For this reason, any action or post exposing the mangaka’s privacy or jeopardizing her peace has been formally reported to authorities. Kodansha publicly demanded an immediate halt to such behavior that constitutes harassment.

This unfortunate doxing incident represents a worrying escalation in the intense debates surrounding the work. The franchise had faced various opinions and criticism over its themes and the announcement of its upcoming anime adaptation. Regarding this, Kodansha acknowledged receiving a wide range of feedback on the project, assuring they are taking the situation very seriously and may issue an official statement at the appropriate time.

Written and illustrated by Nene Azuki, the manga Mii-chan to Yamada-san was originally published on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket digital platform from September 2024 to August 2026, compiling a total of seven volumes. Set in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, in 2012, the story follows a twelve-month complex relationship between Yamada, an experienced hostess, and her new partner nicknamed Mii-chan. The work gained huge attention for its raw portrayal of nightlife, personal struggles, and social issues, surpassing three million copies in circulation before its animated adaptation scheduled for 2027.
