What was supposed to be a major milestone for the illustration community ended poorly. Renowned illustrator and independent VTuber Shigure Ui confirmed the total cancellation of her collaboration with the youth clothing brand Mezzo Piano, just days after announcing the project, due to serious threats endangering the public and those involved.

The project included exclusive products decorated with original artwork by the creator, plus temporary store setups in major shopping centers in Nagoya, Shibuya, and Shinsaibashi in October. However, the organizing company issued an official statement canceling all activities, automatically refunding any pre-sale tickets already purchased.

Shigure Ui offered further explanations, apologizing to those planning to attend and clarifying the decision was inevitable after receiving violent messages. The controversy stems from harsh criticism of her song “Shukusei!! Loli Kami Requiem,” a satirical track released three years ago that surpassed 100 million views. Various groups deemed it inappropriate to link the artist with a brand focused on children’s fashion, leading to hostility that escalated into aggression threats.
