Following the release of Steins;Gate Re:Boot, Japanese developer MAGES has unveiled its latest supernatural thriller, Seeker Eye (Shikai). Scheduled for a winter launch in Japan, the title will be available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, marking a significant shift from MAGES’ usual Science Adventure sci-fi offerings.
Seeker Eye (Shikai) draws inspiration from the 2024 MAGES ghost tale “The House with the Red Roof,” showcased on the studio’s official YouTube channel during the “Kaidanshi no Utage Talks Party” (Ghost Storyteller’s Banquet). Engaging with this narrative transforms players into “supernatural hosts,” as the story’s influence extends beyond characters to affect the player directly, suggesting potential fourth-wall interactions.
The game’s concept stems from Science Adventure series art director Fumihiro Kitahara, with the storyline crafted by Steins;Gate 0 and Chaos;Child scenarist Ryo Yasumoto. Music composition is handled by Takeshi Abo (Steins;Gate, Memories Off), while Tatsuya Matsubara and Naotaka Hayashi (Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate 0, Chaos;Child) oversee production.
Seeker Eye (Shikai) is set for a winter release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Although the official webpage currently displays enigmatic messages, further details are expected as the launch date nears.
