The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects anime reveals third trailer and new characters
animation studio42 brings the story of a veteran who must build a territory from nothing.
Returning home after decades of war and being rewarded with a territory that is nothing but empty plains without a single inhabitant doesnβt sound like a prize. The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects released its third trailer, adding four new cast members and confirming that the anime will premiere first on Prime Video in Japan on July 3, 2026, before its regular TV broadcast on July 10.
The opening is titled “Wonder” and is performed by the Japanese-Korean pop-rock band CROWN HEAD. The ending “Hoshi Furu Yoru no Yakusoku” (The Promise of the Falling Stars Night) is by Kaya. The third trailer introduces the new characters while reinforcing the slow-fantasy tone that defines the series, focused on developing a territory from nothing.

About The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects
The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects is a light novel by Fuurou with illustrations by Kinta, starting on Shosetsuka ni Naro on January 20, 2018, published under Earth Star Novel. The manga adaptation by Yumbo has fourteen volumes, and the franchise exceeds two million copies in circulation. J-Novel Club publishes both versions in English. The story follows Dias, a veteran soldier who returns home after decades of war to receive a territory that is nothing but empty plains with no inhabitants. Knowing only how to fight, Dias faces the challenge of turning that land into a prosperous domain, with unexpected help from Alna, a horned girl who reveals that the plains hide much more than they appear.
Does the concept of developing a territory from scratch appeal to you more than the constant combat premises of traditional isekai, or do you prefer non-stop action?
