Japanese entertainment firm Happinet revealed on May 8 that it will be publishing Tokyo Stories, an action-adventure game conceptualized and developed by Drecom with assistance from Character Bank. This signifies a “new chapter” for the project, three years following its delayed launch, which was initially planned for 2023.
The game is scheduled to debut on Steam, and Happinet reports it has already gathered over 50,000 Wishlists on the platform. A fresh release date has not yet been confirmed.
Tokyo Stories is an exploration-driven adventure set in a mysterious, abandoned Tokyo where “everyone has vanished.” The narrative unfolds through multiple interwoven stories, and as the solitary protagonist Suzu, players must reconstruct the plot while searching for their missing best friend Yuno.

In terms of gameplay, Tokyo Stories includes exploration segments where players explore the “ghost town” of Tokyo for clues, along with puzzle-solving sections. The game’s distinctive visual approach combines 3D and pixel art, enhancing its nostalgic yet eerie and surreal ambiance.

Development on Tokyo Stories commenced in July 2022, with an initial release target for the subsequent year. However, in June 2023, Drecom disclosed that the game’s launch would be indefinitely delayed. Game producer Yuki Ikeda explained that this decision stemmed from the team’s desire to incorporate “additional ideas and content” beyond the original scope.
Although the game’s playable demo was featured at select indie gatherings in Japan, and later social media updates hinted at ongoing development, the official accounts fell silent since July 2025. It wasn’t until May 2026 that Tokyo Stories’ official X profile began teasing new details about the project, culminating in Happinet’s announcement as the game’s publisher.
Tokyo Stories is slated for PC (Steam). A release date remains undetermined.
