Korean developer Moka Sphere has made available a free demo for its upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, Yandere Virus. Collaborating with SCON, the title is scheduled to launch on Steam for Windows on August 19.

Yandere Virus is a multiplayer experience that draws inspiration from titles like Dead by Daylight and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game. Players afflicted with the namesake Yandere Virus must pursue and incapacitate ordinary humans. The remaining humans, dealing with limited health and a regenerating stamina bar, must navigate hazardous environments—including deadly flora—and gather Platonic Pumpkins to synthesize a cure for their pursuers.

Although Yandere Virus’s environments are designed with dark, dilapidated aesthetics typical of horror games, its character concepts and narrative borrow heavily from anime and otaku subculture. The term “yandere,” which names the game, refers to the well-known trope of characters who seem innocent but harbor intense, often violent obsessions.

In addition to the primary mode where a single yandere stalks three survivors, an alternative gameplay variant featuring multiple infected antagonists is showcased in the announcement trailer. Yandere Virus supports both solo play and online cooperative sessions. For added immersion, proximity chat lets players hear each other’s panicked reactions during intense moments.

With over 10,000 Steam Wishlists, Yandere Virus is set to release on August 19 for Windows (Steam).
