With just three months remaining, Nihon Falcom is set to release Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, their comprehensive 3D remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. The game is scheduled for a worldwide launch on September 17 and serves as a direct sequel to Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, picking up Estelle’s adventure through Liberl as she endeavors to uncover the location of her companion Joshua.
In the lead-up to its debut, Nihon Falcom has shared additional insights into the forthcoming title, highlighting new characters, Arts, and gameplay mechanics. Notably, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will enhance the series’ cooking system with supplementary features, such as the combat-oriented “Attack Recipes.”

Much like its predecessor, cooking in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter can be performed via the Recipe Notebook, with various dishes providing distinct buffs and effects. Strategically selecting the right meal before a major confrontation could significantly sway battle outcomes in your favor. Naturally, the quality of your culinary efforts may yield either “Successful” or “Peculiar” dishes, each with varying stats and buffs.
In the event of a failed dish in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, there’s a possibility of obtaining an “attack dish,” which can be deployed to inflict damage on foes during Command Battles. These “attack dishes” do not deplete CP (Craft Points) or EP (Energy Points) upon use, making those seemingly inedible cookies potentially your saving grace in dire situations.
During Quick Battles, certain dishes prepared from the main menu grant a range of buffs, such as gradual HP recovery or amplified damage output, throughout the encounter. Should you transition to Command Battle while these dish effects are still active, they will persist for up to two turns.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is slated for release on September 17, available on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
