South Korean developer Dynamis One and publisher NC have unveiled a fresh video for their upcoming magic x bureaucracy RPG Astrae Oratio (officially shortened to “Asora”). Unlike the last trailer, which showcased gameplay, this latest clip delves deeper into the lives and backstories of the magicians you’ll be commanding.
Asora unfolds in an alternate 1889 Tokyo, where magic is real and technology, culture, and civilization have leapfrogged centuries ahead of our world. You step into the shoes of the Shunin, a junior public official within the enigmatic Special District Office. Your duties involve overseeing all magicians in the city—from handling their administrative tasks to ensuring their identities remain concealed from the public. Additionally, the Shunin is tasked with managing any magician-related incidents that arise.

The trailer introduces Erin Tanaka as its first character. Erin, whose mother hails from Ireland, was born and raised in Japan. During her middle school years, after a chance meeting with friends Riria and Anna, Erin uncovers her talent for an ancient form of magic. Together with Riria and Anna, she becomes entangled in various magician-related incidents throughout Tokyo, all while keeping her magical abilities hidden from her mother.

The white-haired Luna Mitsukoe is the sole daughter of the Mitsukoe family, who own a powerful real estate conglomerate. The Mitsukoe family’s sudden rise to wealth remains shrouded in mystery, with only their real estate holdings’ sharp value increase as a known factor. Luna not only demonstrates an affinity for ice-based magic but is also seen wielding a magical firearm in combat.

Akina Akitsu serves as the director of the Akina Urban Legend Research Institute. As an urban legend hunter, she pursues and exposes myths using custom magical tools that blend alchemy and science. Akina also utilizes items like candy and bottles of Ramune (a popular Japanese carbonated beverage) to combat enemies.

The trailer’s conclusion reveals an unnamed female in a kimono. Given her Kyoto dialect and the ominous aura she exudes, she may be an outsider harboring ill intentions toward the Special District Office.
Astrae Oratio is slated for release in 2026. For further information, you can follow the game’s official webpage and X account.
