The most useless and beloved adventurer group of the otaku community is set to return. During the special event “Colorful,” celebrating the tenth anniversary of the legendary isekai comedy franchise, the production committee revealed the news fans were waiting for. It was officially confirmed that the fourth season, titled KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world! 4, will air in Japanese TV in 2027. The announcement came with an emotional promo image showing Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness from behind under the slogan “let’s embark on a new adventure.”

The release date wasn’t the only surprise, as the technical aspects saw a drastic change. The animated adaptation will now be handled by studio ENGI, replacing DEEN, J.C. Staff, and Drive from previous entries. To ease concerns, the production confirmed that Takaomi Kanasaki will return as chief director to maintain the series’ essence, while Manabu Kurihara (who worked on The Detective Is Already Dead) will take the lead director role. Key figures like screenwriter Makoto Uezu and character designer Koichi Kikuta will remain to ensure the visual quality stays a true gem.

Of course, a new season wouldn’t be the same without the unforgettable performances of its eccentric protagonists. Thankfully, the entire voice cast, both main and supporting, is returning to the recording booth under the impeccable sound direction of veteran Yoshikazu Iwanami. With a decade-long legacy and an event that even revived nostalgia with an unreleased arrangement of the iconic theme “fantastic dreamer” by Machico, the wait until 2027 will be long but undoubtedly worth it.
