Visual novel fans have a huge reason to celebrate. During the special event “Yuzu Soft Songfes 2026,” developer Yuzu Soft confirmed that its acclaimed title Senren Banka (Senren*Banka) will finally make its long-awaited leap to the small screen. A first announcement from the production committee revealed that this new animated adaptation will air on Japanese television in 2027, bringing back one of the most beloved stories by players since its original release for the company’s tenth anniversary.

The premise follows Hoori, a remote mountain village so isolated that not even trains stop there. Despite its seclusion, its beautiful hot springs and traditional atmosphere made it a tourist paradise that shelters Murasamemaru, a divine sword stuck in stone that no one has been able to move. The disaster begins when the protagonist, student Masaomi Arichi, pulls it out but accidentally breaks it in half. To atone for this sacrilege, the poor boy is forced to marry the village’s chief priestess, unleashing a chain of paranormal events, mysterious ghost girls, and ancient curses threatening the villagers.

The best news for purists is that the producers won’t risk changing the winning formula. It was confirmed that the original voice cast of the game will return to portray their respective characters in this new anime. Additionally, legendary singer KOTOKO will also resume her iconic role to perform the opening theme, keeping the franchise’s magical sound intact. While details about which animation studio will lead the project are being kept under wraps, having these talented voice actresses back is enough to boost hype.
