In response to the recent seismic event in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture, Nintendo has extended a commitment to offer complimentary hardware repair services for its devices, regardless of warranty status. This initiative commenced on July 28 and will continue through February 1, 2027.
The magnitude 7.1 quake that hit the Kumamoto region on July 28 caused extensive damage and resulted in at least 38 fatalities, with over 8,200 individuals currently residing in evacuation centers.
The repair assistance is available to those living in zones officially recognized under Japan’s Disaster Relief Act. Any Nintendo products that sustained damage from the earthquake qualify for repairs. Affected items can be sent to the Nintendo Service Center accompanied by an online or written application.
Nintendo cautions that certain products may be beyond repair due to their condition, and notes that systems no longer under repair services, such as the Wii U, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS, are not covered by this offer.
Additionally, Nintendo announced via X that it will contribute 50 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society for relief efforts. The company had previously donated 50 million yen and provided comparable free repair support following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
