Nijisanji VTubers lash out against unpleasant comments
Ishigami Nozomi and Kuramochi Meruto demanded an end to sexual comments in their videos.
A sweet, everyday gesture between two colleagues was ruined by the out-of-control behavior of some viewers. Popular VTubers from the agency Nijisanji, Ishigami Nozomi and Kuramochi Meruto, felt the need to issue a strong warning after a flood of sexual and inappropriate comments inundated a fan-made video clip.

The controversy began with a short clip uploaded to social media by a volunteer editor, showing Meruto struggling to open a drink can until Nozomi came to help her open it. What was supposed to be a simple fun moment between the duo Nozomeru (both part of the seven-person unit Idios) quickly derailed when several users started posting suggestive and erotic messages about the personal relationship of both creators. The situation escalated to the point that Nozomi herself publicly intervened to remind viewers that talents read comment sections, asking to stop such behavior in public spaces and requesting content editors to strictly moderate their posts.

During their joint radio program broadcast, the streamers delved into the issue, revealing that the company management expressed serious concern over what happened. Meruto firmly stated that while each fan is free to have private fantasies, they crossed the line by posting explicit ideas in public areas where they destroy the community atmosphere. Nozomi fully supported her words, calling such harassment “really unpleasant.” Finally, the duo asked their audience not to start witch hunts or post sensational clips suggesting their collaboration ended due to this incident.
Given that extreme fandom often blurs the line of respect for content creators, do you think clip editors should take greater responsibility for moderating opinions posted on their videos?
