Renowned Japanese indie creator Natsumikan has unveiled their latest bio-investigation romance title, Creara Select. In this game, players assume the role of a new recruit in the Special Measures Division (SMD) and must interact with the extraordinary organism known as “Creara” to determine the optimal method of weaponizing her.
Creara stands out as an exceptionally unique specimen. Not only does she display spider-like traits when her heart rate escalates, but she also harbors eight distinct personalities within her. Over the course of seven days, players must observe Creara through reinforced glass, converse with her, and provide sustenance and recreational items. Once trust is established, players can decide which of her personalities would best serve the SMD or opt for an entirely different outcome for her.
Each of Creara’s eight personalities possesses a unique name and reacts differently to various stimuli. Some are timid and respond poorly to conversation, while others are more emotional and require careful responses. Not all personalities are immediately visible at the start of a playthrough, encouraging players to delve deeper into Creara’s psyche.
As players form a closer bond with Creara, she gradually begins to transform. Her hair, expressions, and even attire start to align with the personality players are most connected to, eventually becoming the dominant persona.
Regardless of which personality is being interacted with, players must always be mindful of Creara’s stress levels. As noted, Creara exhibits more spider-like traits when her heart rate spikes. To lower it, players must provide the current dominant personality with its preferred items, such as food and entertainment. Thus, understanding what motivates each personality becomes crucial.
The information gathered about Creara’s personalities is stored in a personality database, accessible at any time. This data carries over to subsequent playthroughs, and multiple runs are necessary to uncover all the game’s secrets and discover all her personalities.
While generative AI tools were utilized for programming support, text editing, brainstorming, and localization, Creara Select’s narrative concepts and visuals were crafted exclusively by Natsumikan.
Creara Select is scheduled for release in 2027 on Windows (Steam).
