Stupid Never Dies, GPTRACK50’s forthcoming zombie-themed roguelike action RPG, has rolled out an update for its “First Bite Demo,” aiming to tackle key issues raised by players since the demo’s release on September 18.

The official X account for Stupid Never Dies confirmed that the demo update is live as of today. Developers noted that players were most vocal about challenges in hitting enemies during combat and maintaining the camera focus on targets.

In response, the latest patch introduces a new “Combat Camera Assist” option in the settings, enabling the camera to automatically track enemies during fights. The update also enhances the tracking of the protagonist Davy’s attacks, making them more reliable, especially against grounded or airborne foes.

A Steam community post clarifies that players who finished the demo will need to reset their save data to experience the new changes, with detailed instructions provided.

During our hands-on review of the demo, we highlighted the absence of a lock-on feature as a significant drawback, as Davy’s moves often faltered in stages with numerous enemies. We also noted that the combat could benefit from improved responsiveness, given the precision needed for attacks and parries, coupled with the game’s strict health mechanics. It’s encouraging to see the developers addressing these issues promptly.

Stupid Never Dies is scheduled for release on October 22 for Windows (Steam) and PlayStation 5. The “First Bite Demo” is currently available on both platforms.
