Spike Chunsoft recently shed light on the enigmatic student featured in the latest trailer for Danganronpa 2×2, which made its debut during this month’s Nintendo Direct.
Popularly referred to as “John Danganronpa” by fans, this new character is Sakutaro Higashi, the Ultimate ??? who becomes involved in the Class Trials within the game’s innovative Slayhem Mode. His voice actors are Natsuki Hanae for the Japanese version and Griffin Burns for the English version.
Danganronpa 2×2 serves as a remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, the second entry in the Danganronpa series, initially launched for the PSP in 2012. In addition to a complete overhaul of the original narrative, Danganronpa 2×2 introduces the Slayhem Mode, featuring a brand-new storyline overseen by series creator Kazutaka Kodaka. This mode also incorporates fresh twists, perpetrators, victims, and murder schemes.
With only his name revealed thus far, anticipation is high to see how Sakutaro Higashi will integrate into the updated storyline.
Danganronpa 2×2 is set to launch on January 14, 2027, across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam/Epic Games Store).
