Yoshihiro Togashi to leave external projects to focus on Hunter x Hunter
The author clears his schedule to care for his health and dedicate all his energy to the manga.
Fans of Hunter x Hunter know it requires immense patience, but the creator’s latest words bring huge relief. Yoshihiro Togashi shared an update on his health and announced a firm decision about his career: he will reject any external projects with deadlines to focus all his energy and available time on creating the manga’s manuscripts.

Togashi explained that accumulated wear from physical and mental health issues led him to rethink his work style. Once he completes current commitments, he won’t accept projects with strict deadlines again. His priority is advancing the manga’s drafts at his own pace, promising a new update when chapter production resumes formally.
The news comes days after the mangaka confirmed completing revisions for chapters 411–420, part of the Succession Contest arc aboard the Black Whale en route to the Dark Continent. This shows the story continues steadily, albeit slowly and with necessary care.

Hunter x Hunter is a celebrated manga series by Yoshihiro Togashi, published in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1998. It’s a global phenomenon with over 100 million copies sold, known for its complex skill system and deep narrative.
Over the years, the series has had many long breaks due to Togashi’s chronic back pain, which sometimes prevented him from drawing. In late 2022, the publisher switched from weekly to irregular chapter batches to accommodate his health. With volume 39 recently released, Togashi’s decision to clear his schedule is the healthiest path to continue Gon’s adventure without risking his well-being.
