Sometimes the best love and healing stories don’t come from school competitions or traditional clubs, but from the simple journey home. The anticipated anime adaptation of the manga Hokago Kitaku Biyori (Walking Home with You) officially opened its website to confirm its TV premiere is scheduled for April 2027. The announcement came with a first promotional image and a commemorative illustration by the work’s author, Mai Matsuda.

Although the project was first revealed in March 2025 alongside the release of the manga’s fourth compiled volume, it took nearly nineteen months to finally get concrete details. With the promotional phrase “The only requirement to join the club is to come home with me,” this installment promises to be one of the coziest and comforting romantic comedies of its debut year.

The story follows Shun, a young man who was the star of his middle school soccer team until a severe injury shattered his athletic dream. Upon entering high school, Shun feels unmotivated and directionless, until he crosses paths with Naoki, a peculiar upperclassman. Naoki invites him to her unique unofficial club dedicated to turning every walk home into a genuine adventure. With unexpected detours, searches for small treasures, and spontaneous moments, Shun’s routine begins to regain the color and joy he had lost.
