VTuber agency bans thanking low donations, sparks controversy
The VTuber revealed their agency doesnβt allow thanking donations under 1,000 yen.
In the world of VTubers, Super Chats are key for connecting with audiences and sustaining daily streams, but a recent revelation ignited debate over agency policies. Riicho, a content creator with Saikyo Muteki Rengo, went viral after posting a video exposing restrictions on thanking small donations.

It started when a viewer donated about $2 (320 yen) asking for a nickname. In the clip, the streamer laughed and explained that her agency strictly forbids thanking donations under 1,000 yen, noting sheβd act differently if she were independent. To humor the fan, she gave them a silly nickname while laughing on screen.
The clip quickly spread, sparking divided opinions. Some understood agencies optimizing stream time by skipping small donations, while others found the policy unkind to fans supporting with what they can. Amid backlash, the creator uploaded new videos asking followers to stop sending related donations to de-escalate the controversy.

Saikyo Muteki Rengo is a virtual talent agency founded in July 2025 by ONKN. It formed by uniting members of the gaming stream group Joshi Kenkyu Daigaku with other variety entertainment talents, launching with nine creators and over five million followers.
Neither the creator nor the company has issued an official statement clarifying this policy.
What do you think of such agency restrictions? Should any donation be thanked?
