South Korean developer Meisomi has launched a Steam demo for its forthcoming psychological horror game Below Lethe. Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology, the title tasks players with embodying Dikaion, a being capable of perceiving the memories of every individual a departed soul once encountered.

Upon crossing the river Lethe—symbolizing forgetfulness—deceased individuals face judgment in the Underworld, where they must recount their life’s virtues. Yet, their account is insufficient. As Dikaion, players must reconstruct the lives of the deceased to expose their transgressions before the Underworld’s tribunal. Three judges evaluate the soul’s testimony against the verities players uncover, ultimately determining the soul’s destiny.

The narrative centers on an unusual trial. Just as judgment is poised to be delivered, one of the judges requests the case be reopened. As proceedings resume, concealed truths about the accused emerge, challenging players’ earlier conclusions. The trial concludes with a decisive choice that culminates in one of two possible outcomes.

In Below Lethe, players piece together events using clues from the memories of those who knew the deceased. Determining witnesses and establishing the sequence of events are key to building the accused’s guilt or exoneration. The Steam page suggests that even when the truth is uncovered, delivering judgment may not be straightforward.

Below Lethe is currently in development for Windows (Steam). The demo is now available for download.
