Did they think it was over? Dr. Stone anime confirms a direct sequel
Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi celebrate Senku’s return to adapt manga volume 27.
We thought the story of Senku and the Kingdom of Science had ended definitively, but science never stops. During the special event STONE FES. 2026, a surprise announcement was made: the franchise approved production of Dr. Stone Terraforming, a direct anime sequel adapting events after the main series’ conclusion.
The news came with a promotional trailer showcasing Senku’s iconic inventions, ending with an electrical storm and the protagonist’s voice about the exciting new challenge. This project will adapt manga volume 27, originally published as a special continuation after the final chapter.

Manga writer Riichiro Inagaki expressed excitement, noting that while the anime adapted the original story’s end, Senku’s scientific adventure never truly ended. Illustrator Boichi thanked fans for their support, promising more details on this new production phase soon.
To celebrate, character designer Yuko Iwasa unveiled a special illustration. While no release date or format has been revealed, the confirmation that Senku’s terraforming journey will continue in animation has fans celebrating.
