Few real-life dramas involving betrayals, romance, and palace gossip have caused as much global buzz as this one. At its panel during the New York Comic Con, Crunchyroll stunned the audience by officially announcing that the popular fantasy romance webtoon The Remarried Empress will get its own anime adaptation, premiering on television in 2027.
The project will be produced by studio TROYCA, with Tetsuya Yanagisawa directing. Akiko Inoue will oversee scriptwriting, while Jun Nakai will handle character design adaptation and Yuki Fukazawa will lead music composition.
The voice cast includes notable Japanese actors. Yoko Hikasa will voice the elegant protagonist Navier, while Ryohei Kimura will play the charming Prince Heinrey. Tomoaki Maeno will portray the unbearable Emperor Sovieshu, and Reina Ueda will bring the manipulative Rashta to life.

The story follows Navier, the perfect Empress of the Eastern Empire, whose life takes a sharp turn when her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, betrays her to make his lover Rashta the new ruler. Instead of grieving, Navier demands a divorce and remarries Prince Heinrey, keeping her Empress title in another kingdom and showcasing a masterful display of dignity and power.

The Remarried Empress is a renowned fantasy romance that began as a web novel by Alphatart, later adapted into a webtoon with art by HereLee and SUMPUL. Since its launch, it has become a massive international phenomenon, accumulating over 2.97 billion reads worldwide and being translated into over ten languages.
After seven years of continuous publication, the webtoon’s main story officially concluded in January, marking a milestone in digital platforms. Fans are celebrating, as the manhwa will return this autumn with new chapters focusing on side stories, alongside the announced anime series.
What do you think of the cast chosen to bring Navier and Heinrey to life in this long-awaited anime adaptation?
