Hololive VTuber Laplus Darkness asks for respect from viewers

The Hololive member clarified that humor among friends doesn’t justify disrespect from strangers.

Watching your favorite content creator for hours daily can make you feel like they’re lifelong best friends, but there’s a clear line between being a loyal viewer and crossing boundaries. Hololive VTuber Laplus Darkness decided to address this on October 16, sending a direct message to a specific group of fans who seemed to forget proper comment behavior.

Through her official social media, the streamer addressed inappropriate interactions from some male users. She explained that while she often makes double-entendre jokes with colleagues or seniors during streams, this works only due to prior trust and a safe environment among friends. Her relationship with viewers, no matter how close streams seem, remains strictly creator-to-audience.

Laplus noted it’s uncomfortable and out of place for strangers to appear in her chat with harassing comments, reminding them her jokes are anatomical in nature and she has no interest in unwanted male advances. The post quickly became a massive phenomenon, surpassing 13 million views in a day and sparking debate about parasocial dynamics in streaming platforms.

Following the huge impact of her statement, the Hololive member used her secondary account to reassure the community. She apologized to respectful fans who might have felt targeted, clarifying her message was only for those crossing the line of disrespect. She also thanked and praised all supporters who help her healthily and positively without inappropriate behavior.

Laplus Darkness is a Japanese VTuber under Hololive Production. She debuted in November 2021 as founder and leader of “holoX,” the company’s sixth generation of talents. Known for her giant horns, chaotic energy, and charisma in gaming and music streams, she’s become one of the most popular and beloved figures in the virtual entertainment industry.

What do you think of Laplus Darkness’s words about boundaries between streamers and viewers?
