The Quintuplets Return: New Gotoubun no Hanayome Anime Announced
The Nakano sisters return with the adaptation of their sequel novel and omitted chapters.
The fate of the five Nakano sisters and their favorite tutor still has many blank pages to fill. During the special event Gotoubun no Hanayome Special Event 2026 in Toyota Arena Tokyo held this Saturday, it was confirmed that the popular rom-com franchise will return with a new anime series for television and an OVA, expanding the universe of this iconic harem far beyond what we saw on the big screen.

The new television series will adapt the sequel novel titled Gotoubun no Hanayome: The Four Seasons. This work, written by Hajime Asano and supervised directly by the original mangaka Negi Haruba, explores the lives of the quintuplets and their relationships after the final events of the original manga. Although the high school conclusion seemed like a definitive ending, this project promises to show a more mature and deeper side of the protagonists in their post-graduation phase.
In addition to the sequel, a new OVA has been announced that will serve as a gift for the most loyal readers. This project will focus on adapting specific manga chapters that were omitted in previous seasons and the 2022 film. With this, the production committee aims to offer complete coverage of the original material, rescuing everyday and romantic moments that fans have longed to see animated for years.
Although exact release dates or details about the animation studio leading the projects have not yet been revealed, it is expected that most of the production team and the main cast will return to their roles:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Futaro Uesugi.
World-renowned for voicing Kirito in Sword Art Online and Inosuke Hashibira in Demon Slayer. - Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano.
The iconic voice behind Mayuri Shiina in Steins;Gate and Nadeko Sengoku in the Monogatari series. - Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano.
Famous for playing Azusa Nakano in K-ON! and Kirino Kousaka in Oreimo. - Miku Ito as Miku Nakano.
Noted voice actress who portrays Kokoro Tsurumaki in BanG Dream! and Hougetsu Shimamura in Adachi and Shimamura. - Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano.
Known for her roles as Ochako Uraraka in My Hero Academia and Gabi Braun in Attack on Titan. - Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano.
The acclaimed voice of Rem in Re:Zero and Hestia in DanMachi.
The franchise, which began as a manga in 2017, has managed to stay at the top of the anime industry thanks to its mix of comedy and mystery about the identity of Futaro Uesugiβs future wife. With two previous seasons and a successful feature film that grossed millions at the box office, these new projects ensure that the popularity of sisters Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki will not wane soon.
What specific moment from the manga that was left out of previous seasons are you dying to see animated in the new OVA?
