Dinners with My Darling manga gets anime adaptation

An empty stomach hurts much more than a broken heart, even if you were the absolute leader of the dark forces in your past life. This Thursday, the Gaugau Monster platform from publisher Futabasha announced a delicious update for rom-com fans: the popular story Dinners with My Darling (Aisanai to Iwaremashite mo: Moto Mao no Hakushaku Reijo wa Kimajime Gunjin ni Edzuke o Sarete Shiawase ni Naru) will get its own animated adaptation. A key detail is that the project will adapt specifically the manga version illustrated by Toi Ishino, not the original novel by Mugi Mameta.

Typically in these early production stages, the committee has kept secret the names of the seiyuus, the animation studio, and the possible release window for the series. This publicity move isn’t accidental, as it coincides perfectly with the upcoming release of the seventh compiled volume of both the manga and the original novel, scheduled for May 7 in Japan. For now, fans of this comforting read can celebrate that Abigail’s story will make its leap to television.

Dinners with My Darling Details

The plot follows Abigail, a young noble who has endured a lifetime of abuse from her own family, hiding the small secret that in her past life she was the Demon King himself. To escape her personal hell, she accepts a convenience marriage with an extremely serious and stoic soldier. However, on her wedding night, her new husband drops an emotional bomb: “I’m not in love with you.” Rather than suffering wounded pride, Abigail panics for a much more earthly and urgent reason: she has no idea what will happen to her meals from now on.

What starts as simple concern about the pantry quickly becomes a heartwarming journey of personal healing. Abigail begins to discover true happiness through the delicious dishes she shares with her husband, especially in intimate moments where he feeds her directly by mouth. This franchise replaces the epic battles typical of isekai with warm domestic moments, slowly building trust between two lonely souls.

What dish do you think would instantly win over the heart of a former Demon King?
