Hope remains! The author of Senko-san pleads for a second season of the anime

What all adults returning exhausted from the office need is a huge dose of mental peace. In 2019, the animated adaptation of The Helpful Fox Senko-san (Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san) became exactly that safe refuge for thousands of viewers, offering a relaxing story that felt like a true soul hug. Several years have passed since then, and although many had lost hope of seeing more episodes, the original creator of the work has just lit up social media with an optimistic message.

A direct call to animation studios

Through their official platforms, the author shared their feelings in an extremely genuine and direct way. They admitted, of course, that they deeply wish to make a second season. They made it clear to the entire community that there is still a huge amount of material in the original story to adapt, and that their personal motivation is through the roof. Basically, the ball is now in the producers’ court. The creator used the space to invite any interested production committee to contact their editorial department, assuring that they are always open to negotiating.

An emotional detail was that they didn’t forget the international audience. The artist showed they are fully aware of the passionate support from fans abroad, thanking all the enthusiasm they continue to send even though the anime ended quite some time ago. These words sounded like a huge ray of hope for those who thought the series had been abandoned in the chest of memories.

The hope of exhausted office workers

For those who don’t remember well, the premise of this franchise followed Nakano, an office worker destroyed physically and mentally by one of Japan’s dreaded “black companies.” His life takes a turn when Senko-san, an 800-year-old fox spirit trapped in the body of a small girl, decides to move in with him to care for him, cook for him, and give him the rest he desperately needs. It was an instant success thanks to the brilliant work of studio Doga Kobo, who perfectly captured that healing atmosphere that so characterizes the work.

Seeing the original author take the initiative to revive their own work in animated form is quite rare andε€ΌεΎ— celebrating. Knowing that the creator has already taken the first step and the printed material is ready to be used, do you think any animation studio will step up soon to give us this long-awaited second season, or does the current industry prefer to invest its budget in completely new stories?
