Japanese gaming studio aNCHOR, widely recognized for creating the beloved visual novel franchise Muv-Luv, revealed on May 26 that they will be stepping back from publishing their forthcoming title Destiny Code. This move stems from adjustments within the studioโ€™s organizational framework.

Destiny Code, crafted by Project L.A, is a bishojo deckbuilding RPG set for a 2026 Steam release. The narrative centers on Hart Grancer, a former mercenary who becomes a covert operative for the A.C.E. (Ancient Prehistoric Civilization Central Intelligence Executive Agency). Grancer is assigned to mentor a group of attractive girls at the Academyโ€”a school overseen by the enigmatic agency. As they carry out various assignments for the A.C.E, the team unexpectedly becomes entangled in a deeper, more sinister plot.

The title offered a free demo in October 2025, with the full game initially slated for release this year under aNCHORโ€™s publishing banner. However, due to the aforementioned structural shifts and the studioโ€™s evolving business strategy, the publisher concluded that โ€œit would be challenging to continue distributing the game in the most effective manner.โ€

Fortunately, the project isnโ€™t being shelved entirely. Project L.A. will assume publishing responsibilities while maintaining development momentum. aNCHOR clarifies that this decision was driven by internal circumstances and is independent of the gameโ€™s content or progress.

The studio will still manage inquiries related to promotional campaigns and events announced prior to this announcement.

Destiny Code is expected to launch in 2026 on PC (Steam).
