FuRyu, a prominent Japanese game developer and publisher, has unveiled plans for an HD remaster of EXSTETRA, slated for release on PC (Steam) during the Summer of 2026.
First introduced in 2013 for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, EXSTETRA is a fantasy JRPG centered around unique interactions. The narrative unfolds in a world where modern Tokyo has merged with an alternate dimension, leading to a mutated and endangered existence. The protagonist, Ryoma, is a high school student grappling with amnesia who is chosen as the world’s savior, dubbed βthe Prisma.β He gains the ability to awaken individuals with potential into Prisma Knights via kissing. Alongside his newfound allies, Ryoma must confront the looming threat of global annihilation.

EXSTETRA incorporates recognizable real-life Tokyo locales like Shibuya, Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Asakusa, reimagined as overgrown, mutated environments. Players will navigate these transformed settings in their quest to safeguard the world.
The game employs a turn-based battle system, enabling players to assemble a party of four from a selection of Prisma Knights. A standout feature is the EXS energy, a power exclusive to the protagonist Ryoma. Beyond standard special moves that consume MP, combat in EXSTETRA hinges on potent EXS-powered abilities. Ryoma can distribute the EXS he gathers from vanquished foes to his companions, but this transfer occurs exclusively through kissing. Strategic kissing during pivotal moments can decisively shift the outcome of battles. The game thoughtfully includes both male and female party members for these interactions.

The upcoming HD remaster of EXSTETRA promises upgraded visuals, aiming to render a more picturesque fantasy version of Tokyo. The signature kissing sequences have also reportedly received enhancements for an even more engaging experience.
The remastered edition of EXSTETRA is scheduled to launch on PC (Steam) in the Summer of 2026.
