With the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Revelation and Square Enix’s ongoing Final Fantasy Franchise Sale, PC gamers are making a beeline for the first two titles in the series to get up to speed ahead of the trilogy’s finale next year. Although the concurrent player counts for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and its follow-up, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, didn’t hit their launch-day highs, both games experienced a significant uptick in players, indicating a fresh wave of interest in the series.

Steam statistics for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade began climbing over the weekend, reaching a peak of 10,082 concurrent players on June 14 at 2 PM UTC (source: SteamDB). This figure is remarkably close to the 13,803 players who were playing the game simultaneously during its Steam debut four years back.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade’s Steam player numbers have seen two other significant surges in the past, both linked to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The first spike occurred at 9,107 players during the March 2024 Steam Spring Sale, shortly after Rebirth’s PlayStation 5 launch on February 29, 2024. The second surge brought 9,139 concurrent players on January 23, 2025, coinciding with Rebirth’s Steam release. This makes the June 2026 player count spike the highest since the game’s initial launch peak.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth didn’t experience as dramatic a rise, but its typical player base (usually around 3,000 players) doubled to 6,826 players on June 14 at 2 PM UTC (source: SteamDB). Given its lower player count compared to Remake Intergrade, it’s possible that players are preparing to journey through the trilogy in sequence, starting with the first installment.

Regarding the Final Fantasy Franchise Sale, it’s worth noting that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are currently available at their lowest prices ever. Remake Intergrade is discounted by 65% to $13.99 USD, while Rebirth is 60% off at $19.99 USD. Considering these steep discounts and the considerable time investment required to complete each game (HowLongToBeat lists Remake Intergrade’s main story at 32.5 hours and Rebirth’s at 48.5 hours), it’s no surprise that players are eager to get a head start before Final Fantasy VII Revelation’s arrival.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is slated for a Spring 2027 release on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox on PC), Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X❘S.
