Voice actress Hikaru Akao has taken an unexpected step in her career by announcing her debut as a writer. It was recently confirmed that she will publish her first light novel, a Girls’ Love (yuri) comedy titled Amai Seifuku o Matotte. The work will be published under Kadokawa’s editorial label and will go on sale in Japan on June 30.

A sweet romance in the Cotton Candy Club

The novel will be released in a pocket format, with 296 pages and a price of 1,650 yen. The illustrations for the volume will be handled by artist Dan Tateda. According to the official synopsis, the story is a 100% Girls’ Love comedy set at the prestigious Seirene Girls’ Private Academy.

The plot follows Yura, a transferred student who meets the mysterious and beautiful Miyuki. The latter invites Yura to join a special salon known as the Cotton Candy Club, where both young women will begin to develop a close, sweet, and romantically tense relationship. Akao shared a public message expressing her excitement and nervousness about this release, thanking the illustrator in particular for bringing her story to life.

Hikaru Akao, affiliated with the agency I’m Enterprise, is widely known for voicing characters such as Koharu Shimoe in Blue Archive, Riri Ichinose in Assault Lily Bouquet, and Atri in ATRI -My Dear Moments-. However, this is the first time she has ventured into writing a full novel.
