Going live when you’re just starting can be a tough test, especially when the viewer count stubbornly stays at zero. That’s exactly what happened to independent VTuber Gekka Sui, who sadly decided to cancel a scheduled talk stream after noticing the room stayed completely empty for a while.

Instead of just ending the stream and moving on, the content creator posted an emotional message on social media taking full responsibility for what happened. In her statement, she apologized to followers who had interacted with the prior announcement for not starting the talk, assuring that the lack of audience was a direct result of her own lack of ability. She even offered apologies to those who had planned to join later.

The situation quickly generated empathy in the community, as being in an empty room is a common fear for many independent creators. The creator had previously mentioned that long streams without chat messages made her uncomfortable. To make matters worse, in later streams she discovered the platform had been mistakenly filtering several user comments, meaning some people had tried to interact without their messages appearing.

Far from giving up after this bitter experience, the creator went live again the following days to play and chat with those who joined to support her. During a special talk organized to discuss the buzz around her case, she clarified that she won’t let numbers defeat her and will continue working enthusiastically to grow her community slowly.

Gekka Sui is a talented independent Japanese illustrator who works under the name Marumero and combines her artistic side with the virtual world. She designed and brought to life her own VTuber model, calling herself a “concierge of virtual life” in a channel focused on mahjong games, video games, and relaxed talks. Despite the setback, the creator showed great resilience and confirmed she will continue streaming with enthusiasm.

Have you ever witnessed a live stream where the creator is completely alone in the chat?
