For those seeking a game that evokes a sense of solitude and introspection, keep an eye on In A World After People, a post-human narrative adventure that has garnered over 10,000 Steam Wishlists. Created and published by Japanese indie developer Yuji through their personal studio Yoruroji, this title invites players to ponder the essence of humanity.

Players assume the role of Libera, a humanoid robot equipped with a TV screen for a head, which awakens in a world devoid of humanity. Uncertain of its purpose or who activated it, Libera embarks on a quest for answers before its operational time runs out.

Although Libera’s journey is deeply personal, players will uncover fragments of the game’s world as they traverse its environments. By engaging with objects and solving puzzles—including CAPTCHAs—the robot reveals its memories. The TV screen on Libera’s head serves a functional purpose, allowing players to view video logs that shed light on humanity’s fate.

Featuring stunning pixel art and a melancholic soundtrack, In A World After People prioritizes its characters and storytelling. The game can be completed in roughly two hours and offers two distinct endings, with the creator describing the narrative as a “rich and unforgettable experience.”

In A World After People is slated for release in 2026 on Windows, macOS, SteamOS, and Linux (Steam). A free demo, which was launched last year, has recently received its final update ahead of the game’s official launch.
