After the unveiling of her gameplay trailer, Street Fighter 6’s Ingrid has seemingly captured the spotlight on the game’s official Steam blog. The latest post delves into her first appearance within the series and her abilities in the newest installment, while Ingrid also playfully nods to the infamous 6-7 meme that has been making waves (or some might say “infesting”) online.
“Greetings, Terrans! Ingrid here to share some exciting news about how fantastic I’m set to be when I join the Street Fighter 6 lineup on May 28! Can you believe we’re already at the sixth game? It seems like just yesterday when I made my presence known, though not in any mainline titles. As you Terrans might say, ‘It’s about time,’ and I notice your peculiar fixation with the numbers ‘6 7’ that’s been circulating. Sigh, there’s clearly a long journey ahead for Terran culture.”
Emerging from the drill rap track Doot Doot (6 7) by Skrilla, the 6-7 meme swiftly rose to prominence thanks to its frequent use in short-form videos and images across social media. Much like its meaning in the song, the meme carries no inherent significance or purpose, aside from potentially irritating those unfamiliar with its peculiar appeal and making others feel out of touch with modern trends.
Ingrid’s incorporation of 6-7 appears to be Capcom’s nod to the meme’s current viral status. Given that Ingrid is a formidable being distinct from humanity, she provides an intriguing perspective on human customs, one that (much like many individuals over 15 years old) struggles to grasp how two simple numbers can wield such influence over the human mind.
Ingrid is scheduled to make her Street Fighter 6 debut on May 28. Street Fighter 6 is available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows (Steam), Nintendo Switch 2, and arcade.
