Even the Police Can’t Solve Love: Isshiki-san Presents Trailer with Enako

Popular Japanese cosplayer Enako will perform the opening and voice a nurse in this romantic comedy, set to air in January 2027.

Solving crimes is easy when you’re a police genius, but understanding love is a different matter. KADOKAWA unveiled a new trailer for Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love, the anime adaptation of Ayune Araragi’s manga, confirming Enako’s involvement in both the voice cast and music. The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on Japanese TV.

The trailer features a snippet of Go Yoku Koi o Seisu!?, the opening theme performed by Enako. The cosplayer will not only sing but also voice Nene Haneshita, a nurse at the police station who is surprisingly popular among her colleagues. Despite many attempts to court her, she always dodges their romantic advances.

A Brilliant Police Officer Who Knows Nothing About Love

The story follows Rinna Isshiki Milford, a teenage prodigy who became a police inspector at just 17. Her intelligence and strict personality have earned her respect, but she faces a problem: she has never been in love and knows nothing about relationships.

Things get complicated when she meets Meishi Rokutanda, a scatterbrained detective with a noble heart. For some reason, Rinna becomes nervous around him, experiencing feelings she can’t explain, even with her sharp mind.

To figure out what’s happening, they decide to start a fake relationship to learn about romance together. Since both are complete beginners, starting to date seems like the best solution, though their inexperience will likely complicate things further.

Voice Cast Includes Zom 100 Actor

Riko Akechi voices Rinna Isshiki Milford, while Shuichiro Umeda plays Meishi Rokutanda, known for his role as Akira Tendo in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. Other cast members include Haruki Ishiya as Danjuro Iwata, Takuma Nagatsuka as Masato Nakatani, Hiiro Ishibashi as Chikai Matsumoto, and Yu Wakui as Rena Yamakawa.

Kazuya Komai directs the anime at Sakura Create, with Deko Akao handling the series composition. Shohei Hamaguchi designs the characters, and Michiru composes the soundtrack.

The first two episodes will get an advance screening on December 13 at Ikebukuro HUMAX cinemas in Tokyo, followed by a talk event with Riko Akechi, Shuichiro Umeda, and Enako.

The original manga, known in Japan as Isshiki-san wa Koi o Shiritai, began in June 2020 in KADOKAWA’s Monthly Shonen Ace. It has ten compiled volumes, with an eleventh set to release on December 24.

Do you enjoy romantic comedies where protagonists know nothing about love, or do you think a genius inspector should solve her own romantic problems without complications?
