Japanese man left ‘mysterious’ discs at a laundromat and police discovered a crime
The subject left discs with suspicious material at a laundromat with a message for ‘healthy men’.
A man arrested for leaving indecent DVDs in public places has shocked the small town of Komatsushima, in Tokushima Prefecture. What seemed like a strange act of ‘giving something away’ ended up uncovering a serious violation of local women’s privacy.
Dangerous gifts: The case of the man arrested for leaving indecent DVDs in Tokushima
Everything began around 3:00 a.m. on December 9, when a laundromat employee found an abandoned DVD at the counter. The disc, apparently blank, had a handwritten message on its surface: “For healthy men: feel free to take this”.

It wasn’t a commercial movie
Upon reviewing the content, it was discovered that these were not professional productions, but illicit recordings. The material contained videos and photos of women in compromising situations, allegedly taken with hidden cameras or from invasive angles without their consent. Local reports indicate that the victims are residents of Tokushima, which aggravates the situation as it involves voyeurism against unsuspecting citizens.
Identified by cameras
Ironically, the same type of technology used to violate the women was what caught the culprit. Police found a second similar DVD at a nearby convenience store that same night. After reviewing the security cameras of both establishments, they identified a 67-year-old construction company executive, a resident of the neighboring city of Mima.
Although the suspect denies the charges, stating that “he did not leave obscene DVDs in the stores”, authorities are investigating his connection to other similar recent incidents in the area.
What would you do if you found a mysterious disc on the street: would you check it or throw it away?
