With the official release window for Kingdom Hearts IV now set for “late 2027” and no reported setbacks (as confirmed by series visionary Tetsuya Nomura), enthusiasts are revisiting earlier installments to prepare for Sora and his companions’ upcoming journey. Several Kingdom Hearts titles on Steam have recently achieved record concurrent player counts, likely spurred by Square Enix’s recent franchise promotion.
Although Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- has yet to surpass its previous peak of 11,152 concurrent players set two years back upon its Steam debut, it still saw a remarkable 10,220 players in the last 24 hours (source: SteamDB). Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) both logged new all-time highs. While these games don’t encompass the entire narrative (fans will need to delve into some lesser-known mobile entries for full context), they offer a solid foundation for Sora’s tale.
Data from HowLongToBeat indicates that completing Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- can span 113 to 304 hours. The Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue experience clocks in at 29 hours, whereas Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) totals 45 hours, combining the 37.5 hours of the base game with the 7.5 hours of additional content. Tackling all three collections will demand at least 187 hours of playtime.
Currently, all three Kingdom Hearts collections – Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) – are available at a 70% discount (both separately and as part of the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece bundle) on Steam until August 21.
Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) are accessible on Windows (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Kingdom Hearts IV is slated for a late 2027 launch on Windows (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
