Koei Tecmo has recently outlined its game development strategy for the fiscal year concluding in March 2027, highlighting its intention to complement major/AAA releases with a steady stream of mid-size game titles (source: GameBiz).
During its financial briefing for the first quarter, Koei Tecmo revealed plans to deliver six significant PC/console titles, 19 mid-size games, and two in-house online/mobile projects by the end of fiscal 2027, alongside several undisclosed ventures (Wo Long and Nioh are classified as “major” titles by the company, whereas mid-size includes Atelier games, Nobunaga’s Ambition, remasters, etc.).
Aligned with Koei Tecmo’s recent workforce expansion, the company aims to enhance both the volume and caliber of its development pipeline. However, as noted by GameBiz, Koei Tecmo has repeatedly stressed its commitment to avoiding overdependence on major releases by ensuring a diverse portfolio. With escalating development costs, relying solely on standalone AAA titles has grown increasingly precarious, prompting the company to strengthen its lineup and bolster revenue through consistent mid-size releases, remasters, and Switch 2 ports.

Among the titles already confirmed, Team Ninja’s Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember and Omega Force’s Attack on Titan 3 are cited as the most highly anticipated major releases. Given that Koei Tecmo still has numerous projects shrouded in secrecy—including the enigmatic FUJI, which is receiving governmental support from Japan—several announcements are expected in the near future.
