The dark fantasy and visceral action genre will get a powerful original series for TV. Producer Pony Canyon announced the production of Maiden Blood, a new anime TV series directed by Seiji Kishi set to premiere in 2027. The announcement included a first teaser, promotional image, main cast, and key creative team members.

The story takes place after an Armageddon whose prophesied fate was altered. Humanity’s desperate will to survive granted the Evil God immense power, sacrificing eight billion people and leaving a handful of survivors as toys for the dark entity. For the first time since the universe’s origin, the world renewal process (Frashokereti) has failed.

Without sunlight and on a planet consumed by madness, the only valuable resource is human blood, serving as currency, fuel, and weapon. In this horror, mages develop a forbidden art to transform a young girl’s blood into a blade that destroys demons. The plot follows sisters Eva (unable to walk since birth) and Epica (the most powerful blood warrior whose soul was stolen). In this desolate world, Eva’s blood is the only thing that can awaken Epica’s dormant power to exterminate demonic hordes.

Elite voice cast and creative team

The main voice actresses will portray the two protagonist sisters:

• Iori Saeki will play Eva.
• Yukari Anzai will voice Epica.

The animation is by studio Polygon Pictures, under the direction of Seiji Kishi (Persona 4, Assassination Classroom, Angel Beats!). The script and series composition are supervised by Makoto Uezu (KONOSUBA, Kengan Ashura), while original character designs are by acclaimed illustrator LAM (takt op. Destiny).

The soundtrack features collaborations with notable composers like Keiichi Okabe (NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a), Kuniyuki Takahashi, and Taichi Joraku, with Pony Canyon handling music production and MONACA providing support. Satoki Iida will serve as sound director for the project.
