Nexon has recently introduced its forthcoming 3D bishoujo game FAREIDOLIA, formerly known as “Project RX.” With IO Division—the studio responsible for Nexon’s blockbuster live-service RPG Blue Archive—handling development, enthusiasts have expressed both enthusiasm and apprehension regarding Fareidolia, fearing it might divert resources or take precedence over Blue Archive.
These worries were recently addressed by the development team in an interview with INVEN. The game’s producer, Min-seo Cha, revealed that when Fareidolia was first conceptualized internally, he pledged to Yong-ha Kim (IO Division’s leader and Blue Archive’s general director) that Blue Archive’s development would remain uninterrupted. Initially, only a small number of developers transitioned from Blue Archive to Fareidolia, resulting in “virtually no impact” on the former, according to Cha.
This strategy, however, posed challenges during Fareidolia’s early stages, as the project began with a limited team and only attracted additional developers after its core direction was firmly established. With new personnel, the team was able to create an organization that mirrors yet differs from the Blue Archive crew. Yong-ha Kim further emphasized, “I want to reiterate that Fareidolia’s development will not hinder Blue Archive, and the Blue Archive team continues to grow.”

Kim and Cha also noted that while Fareidolia incorporates lessons learned from Blue Archive’s development, it is intended as a fresh intellectual property and a distinct game, not as a successor.
In Fareidolia, players will coexist with girls possessing special abilities, dubbed Mates, within a charming isekai environment. The narrative unfolds in Anima City, a parallel world resembling Earth. Players assume the role of the director of Anima City’s restoration center and the caretaker of its office building, Tasogare Hall. By living alongside the Mates, players will address various issues in Anima City while forming bonds with the girls. The game also includes combat that combines real-time and turn-based mechanics.
Although Fareidolia’s release date remains undisclosed, the game made its debut with a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026 (September 17-21) and is slated for release on PC, mobile, and consoles.
