The Japanese studio KAYAC is set to release the biggest update yet for its sensation, Ketsu Battler, on July 30. True to its name, which means “Butt Battler,” this game challenges players to face off in a one-on-one contest where victory hinges on inserting a Joy Con into their clothing and energetically shaking their posterior.
Initially created as a browser mini-game for a week-long game jam, Ketsu Battler has since gained recognition for its competitive elements and was even showcased in side-tournaments for GBVS Cygames Cup 2026 and EVO Japan 2026. The game has also spawned a dedicated manga series published by Corocoro Comics and has partnered with major franchises like Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.
This update will introduce new stages and characters, alongside a novel gameplay mechanic called the “Serious Zone” (a pun that translates to “Butt Ass Zone” in Japanese). The feature works by rewarding aggressive attacks—specifically, vigorous butt shaking—with a special aura that boosts both base stats and special moves for the player’s character.

The Serious Zone becomes easier to activate as the match progresses or when a player is relentlessly pressured by their opponent, paving the way for fresh tactics. It will be fascinating to observe how this mechanic influences competitive play, as endurance in butt shaking could be pivotal for turning the tide. Wearing out an adversary before unleashing a flurry of vigorous movements might just be the key to claiming victory.
Furthermore, the update will include a zero-gravity arena, a stage where the Serious Zone is perpetually active, and an environment where the Serious Zone cannot be triggered, offering players greater variety in their gameplay.
Ketsu Battler is currently available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
