Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six developer Surume Kobo has announced that Astrolabe Games will take charge of the game’s worldwide publishing. The publishing house is known for titles such as BlazBlue Entropy Effect and F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch.
As detailed in Kobo’s official statement, Astrolabe Games will offer support in localization, global marketing, console publishing, and international distribution. The developer notes that the publisher expressed significant interest in the project and proposed terms that upheld his creative direction. He confirms that he will continue to oversee the majority of Omega Phenex’s development.
This announcement follows closely after Omega Phenex’s crowdfunding campaign initiation via Campfire, where its current funding is nearing a revised stretch goal of 7 million JPY (approximately $43 thousand USD). Originally, this stretch goal was intended to establish a global operational and support framework for the game (enabling Kobo to concentrate on development while broadening player outreach and community support), but the developer has secured this through the new publishing partnership. Consequently, the second stretch goal’s purpose will now align with the initial third, which involves outsourcing some of the game’s 3D modelling work to allow more flexibility in creating new mecha frame parts and enhancing the visuals and customization options.
Omega Phenex has been in development for over eight years. What began as a personal endeavor that merges Armored Core’s speed with Ace Combat’s stunning, expansive maps has grown into a project with over 100,000 Steam Wishlists, largely thanks to playtests and player recommendations. Although 2027 is still several months away, all signs indicate that the project is on track for its full release.
Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is scheduled to launch in 2027 for Windows (Steam). An alpha version is also available for purchase on Booth.com. If the PC version performs well, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions are also under consideration.
