Surume Kobo, the Japanese studio responsible for the mecha action title Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six, initiated a crowdfunding drive for the game on June 26 through Campfire. The initiative swiftly surpassed its initial funding target of 3 million JPY (approximately $18.5 thousand USD), achieving completion within a single day and currently stands at 174% of its original goal.Β
The development team has confirmed that Omega Phenex was already progressing steadily toward completion (after nearly 8 years in production), with a planned release for 2027. However, following the positive reception of its alpha and beta tests, along with substantial community enthusiasm (the game has amassed over 120,000 wishlists on Steam), the two-person team decided to launch a crowdfunding effort to enhance the final product.Β
The Campfire campaign currently features three primary objectives. The first milestone of 3 million JPY (already attained) will enable the developers to secure professional Japanese voice actors for all characters. The second target of 6 million JPY ($37 thousand USD) will facilitate the creation of a global operational and support framework, allowing Kobo to concentrate entirely on development while expanding player outreach and community engagement. The third objective of 10 million JPY ($62 thousand USD) will permit the team to delegate some 3D modelling tasks, granting them additional resources to introduce new mecha frame components and refine the gameβs visuals and customization features. Further stretch goals will be disclosed as the campaign progresses.Β

The Omega Phenex Campfire crowdfunding drive will conclude on July 23. Backers who contribute to the project can anticipate exclusive rewards, including a Steam game key, an opportunity to design an enemy mech that will appear in the game, and a personalized 3D promotional artwork of your creation by Kobo.Β
Omega Phenex Commenced Project Six is scheduled for release in 2027 on Windows (Steam). An alpha version of the game is currently available for purchase on Booth.com. Should the PC iteration prove successful, ports for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch are also under consideration.Β
