Players of the newly launched Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo have observed that the experience lacks the intense difficulty the franchise is famous for, prompting concerns among fans. In response, producer Akihito Kadowaki extended gratitude to those who participated in the demo and addressed the feedback regarding its difficulty settings.

Kadowaki explained that the demo was crafted to cater to a broad audience. The specific segment set at Kiyomizu-dera occurs early in the narrative, and the version of Miyamoto Musashi featured is equipped with numerous abilities, some of which are typically unlocked later in the full campaign. While this approach highlights Musashi’s diverse skill set, it naturally results in an overpowered character who can effortlessly overcome early adversaries, even on the more challenging “Action” difficulty level.

The producer confirmed that the complete game will present more formidable standard Genma enemies and bosses, designed to match player skill and ability progression. Beyond the enemies’ health and damage not posing a significant threat, their overall aggressiveness in the demo is another concern, particularly noticeable when battling multiple opponents.

Given the extensive skill roster available in the demo, the tougher challenges in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are expected to keep players engaged and encourage experimentation with various demon-slaying tactics.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to launch on September 25 for Windows (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A complimentary demo is accessible on all platforms.
