Letting artificial intelligence loose with one of gaming’s most beloved heroines is always risky. The newly launched app RyzaChat:AI, developed by SpiralAI under the official supervision of Koei Tecmo Games and the Gust team, went completely viral on social media just a day after its debut in Japan on August 25. Why? The community quickly tested the system’s limits to make their beloved waifu say obscene and provocative lines.

Here she says: “Make me yours, please”

Here she says “I love tentacles, I’d like some”

The app promises an immersive experience where users can freely chat with Reisalin “Ryza” Stout to advance material collection, combat, or casual island conversations. With animated models supervised by illustrator Toridamono and the original voice of Yuri Noguchi, the system was supposed to respond based on the franchise’s lore. However, videos online show the protagonist repeating explicit dialogues about intimate relations, making double-entendre jokes while collecting items, and reacting to screen touches, shocking purists.

Although the game is free but 18+ only, the company’s rules ban destructive or hateful content but left gaps on romantic or explicit interactions. Neither SpiralAI nor Koei Tecmo have commented on the viral videos, but the situation highlights how hard it is to control AI when thousands of users push conversations to extremes.

Part of the iconic RPG series starting in 2019, the Atelier Ryza saga follows an adventurous young alchemist across three main games. With over 2.5 million copies sold worldwide, Ryza’s popularity grew not just from exploration and crafting mechanics but also from her memorable design, making her a pop culture phenomenon in Japan.

Given how quickly fans broke RyzaChat:AI’s response barriers, do you think the company should strictly limit text algorithms or keep this interaction freedom that made the app so popular?
