Be Missed and Remembered: The Letter from Mayoiga, the debut visual novel from Japan’s OVERLAP GAMES, is now available on Steam. Crafted by NEKOSOFT and Narcissu creator Tomo Kataoka, this title delves into a mysterious summer tale inspired by Japanese folklore.
Taking place in the countryside of Showa-era Japan, Be Missed and Be Remembered: The Letter from Mayogia, follows university student Naofuyu Matsuda, who visits his grandparents’ rural home with his younger sister Risa during their summer break. There, he learns of an old local legend concerning a strange shrine that appears from a lake only during summer. Despite no one ever witnessing or entering it, the rumor of its existence endures.

Driven by the rumors, Naofuyu embarks on a quest to locate the enigmatic shrine Mayoiga. Upon discovering it, Naofuyu encounters Su-su, a girl who has been confined within the shrine for years. However, bound by a curse, she transforms into something horrifying whenever she steps outside the shrine.

The game intertwines elements of Japanese folklore with a nostalgic rural countryside backdrop and a poignant coming-of-age narrative. Created by NEKOSOFT, the scenario was penned by Tomo Kataoka. The voice cast features Hiroko Taguchi as Susu, and Takumi Noda as Naofuyu Matsuda.
The opening theme, ‘Rainy 1970,’ is performed by KawaNami, while the ending theme, “Madoromi SKIP TOWN,” is sung by Luce Twinkle Wink☆.
Be Missed and Remembered is now available on Steam for PC, with a 10% discount promotion scheduled until July 20.
