Kodansha has made available a Steam demo for its forthcoming FMV romance simulation Sweet Hamster Days, paving the way for its full release in July 2026 across Steam, Epic Games Store and DLsite. The publisher has also revealed that the game will be taking part in Steam Next Fest: June 2026 and has launched a Wishlister gift promotion.

Sweet Hamster Days is a first-person viewpoint romance game that traces the journey of protagonist Kota, who, in a typical isekai scenario, is reincarnated after succumbing to a traffic accident. Despite the unusual isekai plot, Kota finds himself reborn as a modest hamster. By chance, his childhood friends – the Shiratori sisters – become Kota’s new caretakers. As Kota (or Hamta, his new moniker), players will experience life as a cherished pet hamster while engaging with the three sisters – taking naps, receiving affectionate pets and enjoying snacks.
Living under their care, players will uncover the sister’s secrets and underlying concerns and assist them in resolving their personal issues. Should players excel as a pet, they will be treated to “4K bonus live-action scenes,” some of which reportedly feature the sisters in swimwear and other suggestive attire, according to the Steam page’s mature content disclosure. The question of “how the hell do I romance girls as a hamster” may arise, but the appeal lies in enjoying POV fanservice and the sensation of being nurtured like a small animal.

In tandem with the demo release, Kodansha is organizing a gift giveaway for players who Wishlist the game on Steam, offering prizes such as polaroids of the cast members and Amazon Gift Cards.
Although Sweet Hamster Days was previously removed from Steam and missed its initial release schedule in 2025, with the demo now available, it appears the game is firmly on track for launch.
With a narrative crafted by Ken Shimomura, known for his work on Chain Chronicle and Onmyoji, Sweet Hamster Days is slated to debut in July 2026 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and DLsite). The game will offer support for Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
