Stupid Never Dies, GPTRACK50’s forthcoming zombie-themed roguelike action RPG, has rolled out an update for its “First Bite Demo,” implementing changes to address key concerns raised by players since the demo’s release on September 18.
The official X account for Stupid Never Dies confirmed that the demo update is live as of today. Developers noted the most significant feedback from players pertained to hitting enemies during combat and maintaining proper camera focus on foes.
In response to this input, the latest Stupid Never Dies update introduces a new “Combat Camera Assist” feature in the options menu, enabling players to have the camera automatically track enemies during battles. The update also enhances the tracking of protagonist Davy’s attacks, making them more reliable to land, especially against grounded or airborne enemies.
A Steam community post clarifies that players who have finished the demo must reset their save data to experience the new changes, with detailed instructions provided.
In our hands-on review of Stupid Never Dies’ demo, we highlighted the absence of a lock-on feature as a major limitation, noting that Davy’s moves struggled in stages with numerous enemies. We particularly observed that the combat would benefit from improved responsiveness, given the precision needed for some of Davy’s attacks and parries, alongside the game’s challenging health system. It’s encouraging to see the developers addressing these issues with such prompt and targeted improvements.
Stupid Never Dies is scheduled for release on October 22 for Windows (Steam) and PlayStation 5. The “First Bite Demo” is currently available on both platforms.
