The 100 Girlfriends sets its third season premiere for July

Keeping a hundred soulmates safe is a full-time job with no breaks. After months of speculation since its sequel was confirmed, the wild romantic comedy The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You finally has a definite date on the calendar. Its awaited third season will begin airing next July 5, taking over the late-night block on Japanese networks Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11.

To hype the summer premiere, the production committee released a new promotional image introducing the next conquests that will test Rentaro Aijo’s sanity. The students joining this massive love survival dynamic are Yamame Yasashiki, from the peaceful gardening club; Momiji Momi, a curious third-year high school student; and Kishika Torotoro, the fierce kendo club president.

New voices in the romance

Maintaining a growing female ensemble requires hiring top voice actors. For this third installment, the production secured two renowned actresses to play the protagonist’s strict cousin and a quirky Western-style language teacher:

  • Kaori Ishihara as Chiyo Iin.
Known for voicing Aladdin in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Shota Magatsuchi in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Nadi.
The unmistakable voice behind Nino Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets and Azusa Nakano in K-ON!.

The team behind the chaos

Visually and narratively, fans can rest assured there will be no drastic changes. Bibury Animation Studio continues to lead the project under the sharp direction of Hikaru Sato. Screenwriter Takashi Aoshima and character designer Akane Yano remain on board to ensure the series’ fidelity. Meanwhile, the original work by mangaka Rikito Nakamura and illustrated by Yukiko Nozawa continues to provide fresh stories from the pages of Weekly Young Jump magazine.

With an exponentially growing group of girls, do you think the studio will give them enough screen time during this third season?
